Simulator Use Helps Driving Infractions Go Down
The newest research available on the benefits of driving simulators was published in 2017 by Canadian researchers Pierro Hirsch and François Bellavance in the Transportation Research Record Journal of the Transportation Research Board.

In the study students with an average age of nearly 18 years old were provided Driving Simulator-Based Training (DSBT) as a substitute for part of the mandatory 15 hours of training required by Canadian law between January 2010 and December 2014 (data from over 1100 students was used for the study).

The researchers then tracked all of the student for two years after becoming licensed drivers and found that the students who utilized the Driving Simulator-Based Training as part of their practice had lower recorded driving infraction rates.
